Beach Getaway | Venice, Italy

This was a very impromptu trip that we booked less than a week before we left. Will's friends live just north of Venice in a little town called Caorle so we decided to go to visit them for a couple of days. We could have stayed for longer but Easyjet had no more flights for the Saturday so we had to go Tuesday to Thursday. Nevertheless, we made the most of our time there and had an amazing experience.

We got up bright and early on Tuesday to catch the train from our station to Lille Flandres, which only took around forty-five minutes. From there, we took a shuttle from the station to the airport which was the tiniest airport I've been to! We only took hand luggage and we'd checked in already online thanks to Easyjet's helpful app so we only had to pass through security which took all of five minutes. This meant we could head straight to the bar to grab a drink whilst we waited for our gate number.

Take off was smooth and we were soon flying over France, we even flew over the Alps which were absolutely stunning. It was boiling stepping off of the plane and we couldn't believe how lovely the weather was, we got so lucky. Will's friends came to pick us up and took us to get a bus into Venice. It was gorgeous and the canals were stunning, we wandered around the little streets and dropped into the Hard Rock Cafe for a cocktail (can't break tradition!).

We then headed to the main square to take some pictures of the gorgeous cathedral. After seeing everything possible, we headed back to get ready and go for some dinner. The site we were staying on that Will's friends ran was huge and right next to the beach so the location was amazing, it was a shame about all of my allergic reactions to the mosquito bites but it didn't hinder the trip in the slightest.

After passing through the town of Caorle, they took us into a place called Pizzeria Venus, where the pizzas were dirt cheap and a glass of wine was one Euro, my kind of place! We had a lovely dinner and I was stuffed to the brim, I even had some left for breakfast.

We all then headed back to the site to sit outside and play some drinking games whilst getting to know everyone. I may have had one too many!

The next morning, we woke up and grabbed some drinks from the site shop, I always love seeing the new, different drinks they have in different countries' supermarkets so I grabbed the strawberry Milka and Pineapple Fanta straightaway. We headed to the beach and swam so far out into the sea. It was shallow for miles so we managed to go as far out as we could before it got a bit chilly. Feeling peckish, we headed for lunch at a pizza/pasta place. I ordered Carbonara but couldn't finish it all so Will happily volunteered.

After lunch we dropped by the pool, it was lovely and cold in the hot weather so we jumped right in and swam about in there for a while. We then got out and lounged around on the sun loungers for a good few hours. Will, like the child he is, signed himself up for a game of water polo while I chilled then met him back at our place to get ready.

It was time for dinner by this point so we looked around town and found a Chinese place, I know we weren't really sticking to the culture but we all loved Chinese food so decided we'd give it a try. The food was lovely and we left feeling stuffed. Again, I had breakfast leftover so I was happy. On the way home, Will's friends took us to an ice cream place called Mu where you chose your own flavour, sauce and toppings including meringue and strawberries, even sweets!

We walked home with our ice cream feeling full and happy, even though we were sad to be leaving the next morning.

Although our trip was short and sweet, I can now say they are our friends and I look forward to seeing them again. I'm also glad we got to see everything Venice had to offer!

Until next time...
